PCFarm is designed for use by pro-active managers of cattle, sheep and goat enterprises, both dairy and beef. As a stand alone system it provides very comprehensive herd management information reports for beef herds and dairy herds and is able to be used in conjunction with all major dairy herd production recording services which provide data either on disk or through the Internet or as an attachment to an email. Pedigree and classification data can also be downloaded electronically from the Holstein Friesian Association (HFAA) or entered manually. It contains four modules, each of which can be purchased separately or in combination: Module 1: Is the base module containing Herd Management records all events, Calving, drying off, Mating, Treatments, Diseases and more valuable features. Module 2: Production Module- enables downloading of herd recording production data. Module 3: Bull/Cow matching & culling program. Module 4: Is the remote data collection program which is placed on the
hand held Palm data collectors so it can talk to PCFarm PRICES (inc gst)
Most recording centres provide a full herd historical download on floppy disk in ADHIS Standard Format with the package. Ask for file numbers 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 112, 201and 211 in Standard Format. This will place all the historical data contained on that centre's system onto your PCFarm package in a few minutes. It includes pedigree information back four generations for cows and bulls used in your herd, individual cow test day details for each recording, all lactation details, cow workability assessments, Australian Breeding Values (ABV's) for cows and bulls used in the herd and classification details can be purchased from the HFAA. AUSherd centres (AHRS, Bovine, VHMS, Western Herd, and West Gippsland ) will also provide mating details (108 file) if you have been supplying these with your herd recording details. Updates are then provided with each recording. Full downloads of the ADHIS bull pedigree file can be obtained through our link with ADHIS on this site and a File Splitter can also be downloaded so the file can be downloaded into PCFarm in small chunks. Bull ABV'S on Production, Type and Workability (201 file) can also be provided from herd recording centres. This process eliminates manual data entry to place all historical cow and
bull performance detail into PCFarm. Farmhand is designed to integrate with PCFarm and Electronic Id systems. The program is $346 including GST and is put onto a pocket size computer. Events are entered as it happens and uploaded with the press of a button into PCFarm. For herds not using a production recording service, animal details such as Id number, name, date of birth and pedigree can be entered manually through the Add function. Event data can be entered through the 'Paddock Book' screen for any number of animals. This is transferred automatically onto each animal's file when the screen is closed. A Group Event function also simplifies event entry for animals which can be grouped on such characteristics as milking status, paddock location etc. This enables entry of one event such as 'Spraying for Flies' once only, and is placed automatically on file for all animals in that group. Viewing of information on each animal is simplified by clicking on a particular animal then on tabs across the top of the screen with the mouse e.g. the Test Day tab provides all test day production detail for the last two lactations making test day performance comparison simple and easy. The Breeding tab provides a four generation pedigree which can be printed on a Certificate with production performance. The Events tab provides a screen containing a lifetime of events such as calving dates, treatments, drying off, matings etc. Further details on each event can be accessed by clicking into each event line e.g. the sire of progeny and their identification or who mated or treated the animal etc, etc. Reports are run through the Mating Wizard. A comprehensive range of reports are provided as part of the package. They are both status type reports and exception reports which enable quick identification of animals not performing to the required standard. These can be easily modified to suit individual needs while also retaining the original report. Full Windows and Excel functions can also be used to fine tune reports. They can be based on any aspect recorded on individual animals and on herd and farm events recorded through the Diary- a particularly useful adjunct to a farm Quality Assurance program. Once you have purchased PC Farm you are not committed to purchase upgrades although these will be available as we further improve the package. Any modifications needed to suit changes in the ADHIS download formats are provided free of charge on this site. Dealers will also supply these on disk for a nominal fee.
